It was another slow start for the Syracuse Orange offense, but all was okay once the Orange got some easy looks around the rim. Syracuse moved to 3-0 with a 80-67 win over the Texas Southern Tigers.
Early foul trouble for Tyus Battle had the Carrier Dome worried, but coach Jim Boeheim pressed the right buttons and got the offense in a rhythm with Geno Thorpe on the attack.
It was only an eight-point lead after the first half, but a second half surge led by Battle gave the Orange some breathing room for the remainder of the game.
